The Red Lodge Area Chamber of Commerce's Mission is to promote Red Lodge area economic health by developing a business climate consistent with the assets and values of the area.
The Beartooth Highway is ALL the WAY OPEN!
As of mid-afternoon, June 15th, the Beartooth Highway is all the way open--linking Red Lodge and Cooke City over the pass--once again this spring. Roadway surfaces are clear and generally dry. As always, watch for rocks that may have fallen beyond the culverts. Awesome, machine-carved highwalls of snow line the western side of the scenic highway in the plateau/pass areas. Wildflowers are getting ready to cover the slopes in the lower areas. Arrowroot balsam is out and can be seen from your vehicle. Many smaller (tiny) flowers require getting out and carefully walking around to spot.
"ALMOST EXTREME" FAMILY WEEKENDS BEGIN JUNE 20:
Using a menu that lists 200 +/- great things to do in the Red Lodge area, "families" (for our purposes, a bunch of people of any number, age and condition who care about each other) can engage in activities to see who can squeeze the most action into 48 hours. Fly, float, fish, shop, hike, eat, camp, luxuriate in a motel, hot tub, drive the highway (which better be behaving by then), fill a small grocery bag with trash, paint, attend church, indulge in bakery goods or a nice, big ice cream cone...just have a great time gathering up points with your closest ones. CONTINUE the competition in July, August and September. Great prizes for family that collects most points, most diverse collection of points, and two drawings--for each month.
